Mariam Soliman & Omar Gabr

The first edition of the ARD and the Egyptian Heritage Rescue Foundation Art Residency at Bayt al-Razzaz. It was our pleasure to host artists Mariam Soliman and Omar Gabr during their two-month residency.

They were selected through an open call and it’s a collaboration between the Egyptian Heritage Rescue Foundation (Bayt al-Razzaz) and ARD Art Institution, which invites Egyptian Visual Artists who are interested in exploring and experimenting with traditional crafts. Artists will investigate the themes of sustainability and climate change through the use of craftsmen’s scrap materials at Bayt al-Razzaz (such as wood, metal, textiles, etc.). The residency offers an opportunity to merge contemporary art practices with traditional crafts, focusing on reconnecting with our rich craft heritage.
