Cécile Hummel

Cécile Hummel - switzerland

We are excited to welcome Swiss artist Cécile Hummel, who will be spending a one-month artistic residency as part of our ARD International Residency Program.

Cécile Hummel’s two main mediums are drawing and photography, which she explores in her various possibilities and expands into site-specific installations. Through her lens, Hummel explores the relationship between landscapes, urban spaces, and human traces, capturing the layers of history and memory embedded in everyday surroundings. Her work offers a contemplative perspective on place and time, inviting viewers to engage with the subtle narratives within her imagery.

Since 2001 she has been teaching as a guest lecturer or lecturer at various institutes, such as the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (CH) – Design & Art and ZHDK Zurich (CH), Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle (D).

This residency is supported by the Swiss Arts Council, Pro Helvetia Cairo
