Darja Shatalova - Russia
We are excited to welcome Russian artist based in Vienna, Darja Shatalova. Darja will be spending a two-month artistic residency as part of our ARD International Residency Program.
Darja Shatalova is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on the structuralisation and systematisation of data, describing current events of the environment and the personal microcosm.
She creates multi-layered, coded forms of expression that are composed of symbols, mathematical signs, colour codes and assignments, serving analysis and pattern recognition. The data, collected in the form of graphic notes in artist’s books, is translated into site-specific installations.
Darja has exhibited in Austria at Kunstraum Niederösterreich Vienna, Taxispalais Kunsthalle Tirol Innsbruck, Künstlerhaus, Bildraum 07 and Sotheby’s Vienna, among others, and has participated several times in the Parallel Vienna art fair. Internationally, she has shown her work in Zurich, Berlin, Porto, Mexico City, Barcelona, Aarhus, Oaxaca de Juárez and New York City.
This residency is kindly supported by The Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport (BMKOES).
