Christina Zampoulaki -Greek-American

In 2024, Greek-American artist Christina Zampoulaki participated in a one-month residency at the ARD Art Institution in Cairo, Egypt, supported by EUNIC Egypt and the European Union.
Christina Zampoulaki (b.1996) is a Greek-American artist, working predominantly in sculpture, installation and video art. She is a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven with a BA from the studio of Techno Geographies. Her work revolves around living organisms, their relation to themselves, their surroundings and the world they are interested in creating. 

Her focus is on food and the geopolitical forces that form our food systems and eating habits today. Her practice aims to create interactions between the viewers and their imagination.

Interventions into normality, spaces for reflection and uncommon ideas to become possibilities.Her artistic practice focuses on sculpture, installation, and video art, with a particular interest in food systems and their geopolitical implications. During her time at ARD, Christina explored the role of breadmaking in shaping female identity within the Egyptian context. This project aimed to investigate how traditional culinary practices influence and reflect women’s roles in society. The residency provided her with opportunities to collaborate with local artists, engage in workshops, and present her work to diverse audiences, fostering cultural exchange and artistic growth.
