David Fayek - Italy
In 2024, Italian-Egyptian visual artist David Michel Fayek participated in a one-month artistic residency at the ARD Art Institution in Cairo, Egypt. This opportunity was supported by EUNIC Egypt and the European Union.
David Michel Fayek (b.1986) is a visual artist whose creative process crystallizes from investigating the energetic relationships that form the basis of life. His interest in working with energetic materials spread from personal studies of ancient Asian medical sciences. Starting from the study of individual and crowd energy, his recent projects now focus on questioning the impact of architecture of control on collective psychology.
The residency culminated in an open studio event, where Fayek, alongside fellow resident artists, presented his works and engaged in discussions about his creative process and the themes he explores. This event provided an opportunity for the local art community and the public to interact with the artist and gain insights into his practice.
